I’m back at school in Savannah! On the way down, however, we got into a serious car accident. It all started at 4a.m. on August 9th. James, my sister, my mom and I were all in the car with my aunt and cousin behind us. Less than 5 minutes from my house–as a mater of fact, we were 3 traffic lights away from my neighborhood, some fool speeding down the street slammed into us. We were just sitting there at a red light listening to Beyonce. All of a sudden, we just got quiet and heard the sound of screeching tires. Then, there were like three booms and we were being jerked forward. I felt like I was all the way in the front seat! [I was sitting in the back in the middle] After I got over the shock of being hit I got out of the car to discover that this idiot had slammed into a total of three cars: My mom’s, my aunt’s and a man behind her. My aunt’s car was totalled. The man behind her’s car was completely unrecognizable. And the idiot who caused it all looked around, said, “My bad,” got back into his car, and sped away.

We were standing there in complete shock until the police finally showed up at the scene. It was my first accident with James, and I was sooo shaken up afterwards. I’m so paranoid already about my 4-hour ride to Savannah on I-16; That highway is so scary and full of tractor trailers and people who are tired from riding out of town and potential accidents. By the time we finally made it to school, I felt like my stomach was gonna go crazy from stress, fear, and butterflies.

After the accident, I was in severe pain! I couldn’t move my neck, I could barely sit up… I ended up going to a chiropracter down here in Savannah, and he’s been treating me and fixing me up. I feel great now!

My mom and my sister just settled their cases with State Farm for $700.00 and $500.00. I want the chiropracter to actually FIX me, so I’m willing to wait before I settle. Plus I love the sound of my back cracking…. I’m weird. I know…

Well, this was my last official weekend in Atlanta and it turned out pretty uneventful… Well, at least it didn’t go as planned…. And if things don’t go the way I planned, then they don’t go well.

First, I planned on going downtown to the High Museum of Art with my friend, then to lunch then to walk around either Piedmont Park or Centennial Olympic Park. Well, we ended up leaving too late and we didn’t get downtown until like 4:15 and the museum closed at 5:00. The train seemed to take for-ev-er! We had to get off of the Eastbound train at 5 Points station and get onto the Northbound train, and that second ride would’ve taken too long. So instead, we got off at 5 Points and went to Centennial.

The city was PACKED and crazy because it was a Friday afternoon and the start of tax-free weekend. I forgot all about that. The crowds were really scary and annoying. Centennial was packed, and it was really hot so we walked 5 blocks back to 5 Points and Underground Atlanta. Ugh. Underground was PACKED and crazy. There were just a whole bunch of random, ghetto people shopping and pushing baby carriages. I was too ready to go. We hopped back on the train and came back home. One good thing: While I was on the train, I just happened to look out of the window and saw the set of U.S.D.A.’s video “White Girl” I was so excited!! It was just this broken down old building with U.S.D.A. spraypainted on the wall.

On Saturday, I tried my best to have fun. Unfortunately, everybody and their mama wanted to throw a party. I went to the first party in Decatur.. It was G-H-E-TT-O. Those are the kind of parties that end up on the news shot up. We thought it was gonna be a college party, but we were wrong! It was just a whole bunch of neighborhood folks drinking liquor and smoking weed and ghetto girls looking at us funny. We left after 10 minutes.

The next “party” was even worse. Had they changed the setup of the party, it could’ve been fun. There were just like 10 people in a dark room with loud music blasting. We left after 10 minutes.

Since everybody wanted to have a party, each one was gonna be the same. Either they were gonna have a whole bunch of random neighborhood folks who I don’t know or there wasn’t gonna be anyone there because everybody is at somebody else’s party. We just gave up and called it a night. I ended up back in the house no later than 1:30a.m.

The countdown has officially begun! I have 8 days left here in Atlanta before I have to go back to Savannah and get ready for my third year of school! I can’t believe that it’s already time for school to start back, but I’m really excited. I’ve missed all of my friends. And as much as I love Atlanta, dang the people here have gotten on my damn nerves.

First I have Latisha getting on my nerves with her “as usual” man troubles. I don’t wanna get into it, but I can’t stand to see women who are weak for no-good guys, and she epitomizes weakness. Why would someone hope for a relationship with a person who A.: They don’t trust. B: They KNOW is messing with other girls. He doesn’t even attempt to hide it! WEAKNESS! It disgusts me. She acts like she can’t move on. I think that she thinks that she’s not pretty enough because she’s dark-skinned. I keep telling her, she needs to read Color Struck by Zora Neale Hurston. She asked me, “Where can I find anybody else who will do what he does: We have great conversation, we spend a lot of time together, and he buys me things.” Whoo, he’s done something SOOO spectacular. Duh! If someone even kinda sorta likes you, they’ll do that! Minus of course blatently disrespecting you!

Speaking of epitomizing weakness, we have Jeana. Jeana chooses to stay with a bum who sells crack and mentally abuses her 3-year old son and probably abuses her. He’s rude and he’s a bum. She’s not even allowed to talk to me. When I call to speak to her, he is so rude and mean to me…

I just want to be back in college surrounded by POSITIVE, educated people. The only thing I liked about being home was being only about an hour away from Athens and being able to be with James. But, now I think things will be okay. His mom [whom I absolutely love and adore!] works for Delta and she’s going to make sure I have buddy passes to fly free. Lord knows I’ll be on the first flight from Savannah to Athens to be around even more positive, educated, FUN people, and of course James.

Speaking of my James… He’s gonna take off of work to help me move into my dorm back in Savannah. It’s always fun to ride down with him. I really can’t wait. I’m gonna be so sad to see him leave, but at least I’ll be able to fly to see him!

Alright… I’m about to go to sleep! It’s late!

Well, it took me long enough. I’m back, and this time I’m here to STAY!!! God! I’ve been trying to install Wordpress for FOREVER!! I made a new layout, then I realized that I couldn’t customize the wordpress blog the same way I could customize the b2 blog. I almost gave up on the site all together. I had worked all hard on this new layout, and I can’t use it! But, I can’t let go of blogging!! I have to find people all over again now. lol. Anyway, I like Wordpress blogs better. The whole reason why I let the site go. I couldn’t think up any new complex looking layouts. Now, I can be simple and get back to the basics of what personal sites are supposed to be about… Blogging. Ahhh.

I want to write more, but it’s 1:30 a.m., and I’m going to church with my friend in the morning. I’m going to New Birth. Black folks down here in Atlanta worship that church, so I can’t wait to see what craziness I see up in there. We joke and call it New Birth Inc. because it’s like one of those mega church corporations with services that are televised, a pastor who’s like a celebrity. There are even some celebrity members like Usher! Shooot, it’s not like us regular folks can sit near him. They sit in the reserved seats up front. How fancy!

Yes! Finally, my summer has become eventful! On the 4th of July, James invited me to come over to his Aunt Vicki’s for a cookout, and I happily accepted. I had never been to Aunt Vicki’s house so I was looking forward to going and seeing his family. We had a nice time eating and talking about school. His brother Lance had me cracking up the whole night. They’re all so funny together. After the cookout, James told me that I could come back with him to Athens!! He’s still in summer school at UGA, so he’s still in his apartment. We’ve been having so much fun together. We’re pretty lame, so our fun is the square kind of fun. We’ve been cooking, talking, baking cookies, and all that domesticated stuff.

On Friday, I went to class with James… We went to Roman Art then to Chemistry. The Roman Art teacher played a song on this little piano for us since it was Friday. He’s so adorable. The chemistry class was long and boring. I can’t help but feel sorry for James though… That class is so hard, and he studies sooo hard! He’s determined to make nothing but an A in that class since he’s a Pre-Med major. He’s been studying night and day…

On Saturday, we went out to eat at this really nice Japanese resturant called Choo Choo’s. They’re food is so good. After that, we went to the mall and I bought James this shirt from Spencer’s. I bought some earrings from Claire’s, then I bought some cargo shorts and t-shirts for me and my sister from Aeropostale. After that, we went to a pool party. We were kind of reluctant about going, but we finally decided to go. We had soooo much fun! I met all of his frat brothers and we danced and acted silly and took lots of pictures.

On Sunday, we went over to one of his “Bruhs’” house for Sunday dinner. I cooked some fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread. Taylor cooked mashed potatoes and [burnt] macaroni and cheese. We had a lot of fun there too. I love these UGA Kids!! We watched the Charm School Reunion which was pretty much disgraceful to me… lol

Now, I’m sitting alone in the apartment. James is in class. He has a test today and the big chemistry test is tomorrow. I have to let him study in peace, so I decided to stay here and clean up and stuff. My friend Justin’s birthday is this Friday, so we’re gonna go over there and party and act a fool! I can’t wait until Thursday. James’ tests will be all over [for now] and he can kind of relax and we can go to the campus creamery and get some ice cream!
